Conal Byrne joined HowStuffWorks in 2007. As editor-in-chief, he is responsible for managing the scope, scale and voice of the site's editorial and video content and for overseeing an editorial team of more than 60 editors and writers. Since coming on board, Conal has ramped the content output of the company to 100 new articles per month (and climbing) and is working closely with Discovery Communications to integrate portions of their vast video library on the site. Conal is also working closely with Discovery on the forthcoming "How Stuff Works" television show.

Prior to HowStuffWorks, Conal was editor-in-chief and co-founder of The Sunday Paper, an Atlanta newsweekly. Within 12 months of its inception, the paper had accrued an audience of 500,000 weekly readers across metro Atlanta. As such, it was the fastest-growing newsweekly in the United States.

Conal received a B.A. in English from Georgetown University and an M.A. in Spanish Literature from Columbia University.
